Cardimed is the cardiology department of Radimed, offering specialized cardiology consultations as well as a full range of diagnostic tests dedicated to the evaluation of cardiovascular health.
Our team of experienced cardiologists is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, and follow-up of various heart conditions, as well as the evaluation of major cardiovascular risk factors.
Located at Westmount Square, Cardimed provides patients with modern diagnostic technologies that allow several cardiovascular examinations to be performed in a professional and efficient environment.
Through close collaboration with Radimed’s medical imaging services, patients can also benefit from rapid access to specialized cardiac imaging tests when clinically required.
Expertise in cardiovascular health
Cardiovascular diseases are among the most common medical conditions and can sometimes develop silently over several years.
A cardiology consultation may be recommended in order to:
- investigate certain cardiac symptoms
- assess cardiovascular risk factors
- monitor known heart conditions
- complete investigations requested by a referring physician
Our cardiologists work closely with treating physicians to provide thorough cardiology assessments and follow-up tailored to each clinical situation.
A team of experienced cardiologists
Cardimed relies on the expertise of renowned cardiologists with extensive clinical, academic, and cardiac imaging experience.
Dr. David Banon, Medical Director and specialist in cardiac imaging, provides clinical leadership and oversees the strategic development of the department.
Dr. Elric Dennisson Winter brings extensive academic and hospital experience. Trained in cardiology at McGill University and specialized in echocardiography at Yale University, he directed a cardiology department for nearly twenty years.
Dr. Michael Chetrit, Assistant Professor at McGill University and cardiologist at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), holds several leadership roles in cardiac imaging and serves as President of the Canadian Society of Cardiac MRI.
Cardimed represents a standard of excellence in cardiology, where medical expertise is supported by a rigorous and professional approach.
Our cardiology examinations
Cardimed offers a range of cardiovascular examinations designed to evaluate the structure and function of the heart, heart rhythm, and coronary circulation. These tests may be requested by your physician to investigate symptoms, confirm a diagnosis, or ensure appropriate cardiology follow-up.

When should you see a cardiologist?
A cardiology consultation may be recommended if you experience certain symptoms or cardiovascular risk factors, including:
• chest pain or pressure
• unusual shortness of breath
• palpitations or irregular heartbeats
• high blood pressure
• high cholesterol
• diabetes
• family history of heart disease
• cardiovascular risk factors (smoking, sedentary lifestyle, etc.)
Exam offered:
-
Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM)
ABPM measures blood pressure over a 24-hour period to evaluate hypertension and its control.
Procedure
A cuff connected to a small portable device automatically measures your blood pressure at regular intervals during daily activities.
Wear loose-fitting clothing. Maintain your usual activities unless otherwise instructed.
-
Calcium Score (Coronary Risk Assessment)
A calcium score is a CT scan that measures the amount of calcium in the coronary arteries to help assess the risk of coronary artery disease.
Procedure
A quick, non-invasive exam that usually does not require a contrast injection.
No special preparation in most cases.
-
Cardiac MRI
A cardiac MRI is an advanced imaging test used to evaluate the heart’s structure, function, and tissues.
Procedure
The patient is positioned in an MRI machine to obtain detailed images of the heart.
Specific instructions may be provided depending on your health condition.
-
Cardio-Stat 48 hours / 7 days / 14 days
Cardio-Stat is a portable device that continuously records the heart’s electrical activity over several days to detect intermittent arrhythmias.
Procedure
A small, discreet device is attached to the chest. You continue your normal activities during the prescribed period.
No special preparation required.
-
Coronary CT Scan
A coronary CT scan (CT coronary angiography) provides detailed images of the heart’s arteries to detect narrowing or blockages.
Procedure
An advanced imaging exam performed using a CT scanner, sometimes with contrast injection.
Specific instructions may be provided depending on your medical condition.
-
Echocardiogram
An echocardiogram is a cardiac ultrasound test that uses echocardiography to evaluate the structure and function of the heart.
Procedure
A probe is placed on the chest to obtain real-time images of the heart muscle.
No special preparation required.
-
Resting Electrocardiogram ECG
A resting electrocardiogram (ECG) records the electrical activity of the heart to detect rhythm abnormalities or signs of heart disease.
Procedure
Electrodes are placed on the chest, arms, and legs to record heart rhythm. The test is quick and painless.
No special preparation required.
-
Stress Echocardiogram
This test combines echocardiography with physical exercise to evaluate heart function during exertion.
Procedure
Images of the heart are taken before and immediately after treadmill exercise to detect potential abnormalities.
Wear comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes.
-
Stress Test (includes cardiology consultation)
A stress test evaluates how the heart functions during physical exercise. It helps detect certain coronary artery diseases or heart rhythm abnormalities.
Procedure
The patient walks on a treadmill while heart rate, blood pressure, and electrocardiogram are monitored. The intensity gradually increases under medical supervision.
Wear comfortable clothing and appropriate exercise shoes. Bring a list of your medications.
