A\u00a0CT scan (computed tomography)<\/strong>\u00a0is a commonly used medical imaging exam that provides detailed images of the body. If you have an upcoming appointment, it\u2019s normal to want to know what to expect during the exam.<\/p>\n

At\u00a0Radim\u00e9d<\/strong>, our team supports you every step of the way to make the experience as simple and well guided as possible.<\/p>\n

Before the exam<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Before your appointment, certain instructions may be necessary. See our article on\u00a0preparing for a CT scan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It is also important to note that this exam is performed by medical prescription only. To better understand why, read our article on\u00a0getting a prescription for a CT scan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

When you arrive<\/strong><\/h3>\n

On the day of your appointment:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • you will be welcomed by our team<\/li>\n
  • your information will be verified<\/li>\n
  • the instructions will be confirmed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    You may be asked to wear a\u00a0hospital gown<\/strong>\u00a0and remove certain metal objects.<\/p>\n

    Positioning and image capture<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    You will be positioned on a table that moves inside the scanner.<\/p>\n

    During the exam:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • you will be asked to remain still<\/li>\n
    • simple instructions may be given (e.g., hold your breath for a few seconds)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The scanner takes images in just a few minutes.<\/p>\n

      Contrast injection (if needed)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      In some cases, a\u00a0contrast agent<\/strong>\u00a0may be administered.<\/p>\n

      The injection is generally quick. A temporary warm sensation may sometimes be felt.<\/p>\n

      The team ensures that all conditions are met before the product is administered.<\/p>\n

      After the exam<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      Once the exam is complete:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • you can generally resume your usual activities<\/li>\n
      • the images are analyzed by a radiologist<\/li>\n
      • the results are sent to the referring physician<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
